Objective

This project was part of the 5% Design Action program, specifically the "New Creation" project, which supports local agricultural organizations in New Taipei City through brand identity design.

For this project, I created the brand identity for the Pinglin Youth Tea Development Association. The design aims to present the association's youthful and innovative spirit while reflecting the traditions and culture of Pinglin Baozhong tea.

Challenge

The Pinglin Youth Tea Development Association is made up of the second generation of tea farmers in Pinglin. The main goal of the association is to help its members improve their tea-making skills by learning from each other. At the same time, the association hopes to promote Pinglin Baozhong tea to the public.

By using creative and modern ideas, the association aims to attract younger consumers and encourage them to enjoy tea. With the support of local tea farmers, the members work together to revive the Baozhong tea industry in Pinglin.

In the future, the association plans to establish a company to organize tea tasting experiences and tea farm tours. Through these activities, they hope more people will learn how to appreciate tea and better understand the traditional tea-making process.

About the Association

Tea farmers in Pinglin usually manage the whole tea-making process by themselves. They grow the tea, pick the leaves, make the tea, and promote and sell their products. Every step, from taking care of the tea plants to harvesting, processing, and marketing, is done with great care.

Vision

During tea processing, every stage must be carefully checked, and each step requires hands-on work. Good weather and the tea farmers' professional tasting skills are also important for producing high-quality Baozhong tea. While learning and improving, the younger generation of tea farmers is happy to share their experience and techniques. They regularly hold tea tasting events to sample each other's teas, learn from one another, and continue improving their tea-making skills. Together, they are working to revive the reputation of Pinglin Baozhong tea.

Mind Map
Process

The final logo combines the traditional seal, the shape of tea leaves, and the form of a gaiwan (lidded tea cup). Together, these elements express the idea of preserving tradition while building a strong and trustworthy brand identity.

The final design was the logo in the lower-right corner. The main idea comes from the traditional practice of tea producers stamping their family seal on tea packages to show that the tea was made by their own farm. Based on this tradition, I placed the name inside a circular shape to create the look of a seal.

The seal represents tea that has passed the association's quality evaluation. It also reflects the association's long-term goal of creating an official tea certification system, where tea approved by the Pinglin Youth Tea Development Association will stand for trusted, high-quality Baozhong tea.
